Welcome to a place where hometown and healthcare meet. Nestled in the mountains of East Tennessee, the city of Oneida is located in a natural scenic wonderland on Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau, with easy access to major metropolitan areas.

OUR HOSPITAL

Scott County Hospital is a 114-bed JCAHO-accredited acute care facility. The hospital and the 65+ physicians on its medical staff provide a comprehensive range of healthcare services to serve the communities of Scott County, Tennessee and McCreary County, Kentucky. Scott County Hospital works closely with organizations and individuals to educate the community about health and wellness issues in order to prevent or reduce the risk of serious health problems. Rehabilitative services on both an inpatient and an outpatient basis are also available. Diagnostic imaging services include X-ray, Mammography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT, and Vascular Studies, including venous and arterial studies, echocardiograms, carotids and stress test. The hospital has a 24-hour Emergency Department with 24-hour physician staffing and a Fast-Track Service for worker’s comp injuries.

OUR HOMETOWN

Many opportunities for higher education are located near Oneida. Roane State Community College is located 40 miles away in Harriman. The University of Tennessee and Pellissippi State Technical Community College are only 50 miles away in Knoxville. Tennessee Technological University, the state’s only technology-oriented university, is located in Cookeville, which is only 70 miles away.

The county public school system includes Oneida High School with over 350 students. There are also two elementary schools and one middle school as well as a private primary/ middle school.

RECREATION

Located atop the beautiful Cumberland Plateau, the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area features breathtaking scenery, with deep gorges and steep cliffs, and offers more outdoor activities than most National Parks. For hikers, there are over 300 miles of trails.

Within Big South Fork, Bandy Creek Campground features 190 campsites open year- round, with electric and water hookups, RV and tent sites, playgrounds, a swimming pool, volleyball court and restroom/shower houses.

The Big South Fork is also one of the best places in the Southeast for horseback riding, with over 200 miles of developed trails. Big South Fork is also one of the major whitewater rivers of the Southeast with class III and IV rapids. Many miles of dirt roads provide
opportunities for four-wheel drive, all-terrain vehicles and trail bike riding. For the fishing enthusiast, an abundance of bass, bluegill, catfish, walleye and other game species are found in the river and its tributary streams. Other recreation includes road bicycling, mountain biking, climbing and rappelling, spelunking and hunting.
